In 2016, Barack Obama's name ended up on a newly discovered parasite, but it was an honor, and scientists had this to say

Barack Obama was by and large popular person as the President of the United States of America. During his Presidency tenures, a few surprising things were named after the first African-American president of the U.S. Among those are fish (Etheostoma Obama), lizard, mountain, fungus (Caloplaca obamae), bread, bird, spider (Aptostichus barackobamai). In 2016, a newly discovered parasite was named after Obama. The name was Baracktrema obamai. Previously, a hairworm found in Kenya was named after Obama (Paragordius obamai).

In 2016, former U.S. President Barack Obama became the namesake of an unusual scientific discovery when researchers described a previously unknown species of parasitic flatworm found in turtles in Malaysia. The creature was given the scientific name "Baracktrema obamai", a name that might initially sound like an unusual or even insulting association with a parasite. But the scientist behind the naming intended something very different. The name was chosen as a tribute to Obama, reflecting admiration for the former president and a personal connection discovered through genealogy research.
