Cleveland Metroparks’ work on Beecher’s Brook shows how targeted stream restoration can produce measurable improvements in aquatic life. The tributary was studied in 2012 after water quality problems were identified in the Chagrin River watershed.
A restoration project later removed a barrier to fish passage, improved stream habitat and restored nearby riparian areas. Post-project monitoring found a sharp improvement in fish community scores, along with better macroinvertebrate conditions, as per a report by Ohio EPA NPS Program.
