In 2011, Jessica Alba co-founded The Honest Company around household and baby products; its 2021 market debut briefly valued it at nearly $2 billion

Jessica Alba was already one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces before she made her entry into a completely new field: consumer products. In 2011, the actor co-founded The Honest Company along with entrepreneur Brian Lee and other partners after struggling to find household and baby products that would serve their purpose and be safe for family use. What began as a mission-driven startup evolved into one of the best-known clean living brands in the USA. In 2021, the company made its debut on the stock market, reaching a market capitalization of nearly $2 billion on its first trading day.

The growth of the company reflected a broader shift in changing consumer preferences. The demand for products that are marketed as free from some chemicals and made with an emphasis on transparency was growing in popularity, particularly among young parents. The Honest Company took its place on this wave, offering diapers, wipes, hygiene products, cleaning agents, and promoting ingredient disclosure and sustainability as key selling points.
