In 1991, California bargain hunter Teri Horton paid just $5 for a large painting at a thrift store in San Bernardino. While she thought the canvas, covered in colorful paint drips and splatters, was ugly, but years later, the painting became the center of a mystery over whether it could actually be the work of Abstract Expressionist artist Jackson Pollock.

A HISTORY report lists the painting’s estimated value as $50 million and says Horton was asking $50 million for it. At the same time, the publication says Horton has been working with authenticators to prove that the painting is actually by Pollock.
