Imran Khan to move from prison to hospital, Pakistan’s Supreme Court orders

  • Pakistan's Supreme Court has ordered authorities to transfer jailed former prime minister Imran Khan to a hospital in Islamabad for medical treatment.
  • Medical records submitted to court showed Khan complained of anxiety, palpitations, headaches and restlessness while detained in Adiala Jail.
  • Doctors recommended Khan be granted more frequent contact with his immediate family and spouse to help manage his anxiety and blood pressure .
  • Khan's allies and Amnesty International have condemned his prolonged isolation, warning of severe tolls on his physical and mental health.
  • The 73-year-old former cricket star has been in custody since August 2023 and continues to appeal against multiple convictions he claims are politically motivated.
