New Delhi: An imposter has availed of the medical insurance benefit meant for lawyers under the Chief Minister Advocate Welfare Scheme. Under this scheme, advocates are given Rs. 5 lakh in mediclaim insurance if they are admitted to any hospital.
This incident came to light when Advocate Saroj Bala, who has a chamber in Dwarka District Court, received a communication regarding the mediclaim of Rs. 63,000 for her treatment from the Insurance TPA.
Saroj Bala was shocked after receiving the communication, as she was never admitted to any hospital. However, her Bar Council of Delhi enrollment was found to be missing.
She had filed a complaint with the Dwarka police station regarding the theft of her enrollment card and had also written to the insurance authorities regarding the fake claim.
It is stated in the complaint that she received an email from Health India TPA Services saying that on June 11, someone was admitted to RG Stone and Laparoscopy Hospital on her identity with her health policy and claimed Rs. 63000.
It is alleged that someone fraudulently used her identity to obtain medical insurance and claimed Rs. 63,000 from the insurance company.
She has stated that someone had her identity card and other relevant documents that she had missed. This incident has caused a financial loss to her but also raised concern regarding her personal information.
She also stated that her renewed BCD card was used for this fraud in June. She said that she received the same in July from BCD. She has also filed a complaint with the Bar Council of Delhi. (with Agency inputs)
