Immediate Action Required: Implementing Critical Reforms at Boeing

Dear Mr. Ortberg.

Re: Immediate Action Required: Implementing Critical Reforms at Boeing

I write to you again with a heightened sense of urgency following my previous communication dated November 17, 2024, which has regrettably not yet been acknowledged. The recent stock rally, while providing temporary relief, should not distract from the substantive issues that threaten Boeing’s long-term stability and success.

As highlighted in my recent Forbes article, "What Can Be Learned from Boeing’s Downfall," the structural and strategic challenges Boeing faces require immediate and decisive action. The superficial market recovery must not be misconstrued as a sign of underlying health.

Most critically, Boeing’s operational model requires fundamental reform. I have been approached by numerous Boeing employees since my last letter, all echoing a strong endorsement for the operational changes I proposed. They have specifically highlighted the necessity for each production line to concentrate on its designated function, rather than being diluted across multiple roles. This isn’t merely a suggestion; it is a plea from those who form the backbone of our operations.

The sentiment from our workforce underscores a significant disconnect between current management practices and the operational realities on the ground. It reveals a clear pathway that Boeing should take to not only improve operational efficiency but also to boost morale and product quality.

Failure to act swiftly and decisively on these recommendations risks not only further financial volatility but also potential long-term damage to Boeing’s brand and operational viability. As a shareholder, I find this risk unacceptable.

Therefore, I request an immediate response to this letter, followed by a meeting to discuss how these urgent reforms can be implemented. We must address these issues transparently and without delay to realign Boeing’s strategy with the practical and strategic demands of the aerospace market.

I look forward to your prompt reply and to setting a date for our discussion. Boeing's future, our employees' welfare, and shareholder value depend on our collective action now.

Sincerely,

Jim Osman
