Weapons, imitation guns, ammunition, and suspected drugs have allegedly been found after two separate traffic stops in Canberra.
Jacob Montgomery, 31, and Guiseppe Catanzariti, 28, faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday, September 5, where bail was not applied for and was formally refused.
About 5pm on Friday, September 4, officers stopped a black Mercedes-Benz driven by Montgomery on Erindale Drive to execute a search warrant.
Police allege Montgomery was found to be driving while disqualified, and a drug test allegedly indicated the presence of a prescribed drug.
Officers then searched his house in Monash, where they allegedly located knuckle dusters, an extendable baton, two imitation handguns, a bag of ball bearings, and an item capable of using gas to fire projectiles.
Montgomery was charged with three counts of possessing a prohibited firearm, two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, drug driving, driving while disqualified, and breaching a good behaviour order.
Later that night, around 11.45pm, officers stopped a BMW at a service station in Watson.
Police allege Catanzariti, who was a passenger in the vehicle, wa in breach of court-ordered reporting obligations.
A search of Catanzariti and his belongings allegedly uncovered two folding imitation firearms, a bag containing ammunition, an empty firearm magazine, about $800 in cash, and small clip-seal bags suspected of containing cannabis, heroin and methamphetamine.
He was charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, possession of ammunition, possessing property suspected to be proceeds of crime, and breach of bail.
Police said inquiries regarding the suspected drugs remain ongoing.
