Imelda May has deleted a tweet showing her support for her friend Johnny Depp after receiving online backlash.
Johnny is suing Amber Heard for libel over a 2018 article she wrote in The Washington Post which his lawyers say falsely implies that he physically and sexually abused her.
Imelda was taken aback by the amount of arguments and anger in the comments under her tweet of solidarity and is still receiving negative feedback online.

She stressed that she sends both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard love and hopes that justice prevails.
Imelda tweeted: "I’ve deleted a tweet in which I supported my friend Johnny.
"Not because I don’t send him or his ex love but because the thread was filled with so many arguments, pain and anger. Which hurts us all.
"This case has brought out such strong emotions. I only hope truth and love win."
Imelda's deleted post was a photo of her on stage with Johnny Depp. She wrote in her post: "My friend @johnnydepp is one of the kindest, coolest, most thoughtful, respectful, soulful, truthful, heartfull humans you could ever know. I send love always."
In a follow-up Tweet, Imelda responded to the criticism by writing: “I believe in love, truth, safety, respect, kindness and compassion regardless of gender. I’m not a judge nor jury.”
“Supporting one doesn’t always condemn another. Being cruel doesn’t help. Empathy and understanding does. I have no hate just hope. Have a peaceful night,” she added.
The Pogues frontman, Shane MacGowan has also offered his own show of support to Johnny on Twitter.
He wrote: ""Stay strong brother we are with you."
The two have been close friends for more than three decades with Shane sharing a photo of the duo.
