IMD forecasts heavy rainfall in north Bengal, warns of possible landslides, flash floods

Kolkata: The northern districts of West Bengal are expected to receive heavy rainfall over the next two days due to an active southwest monsoon, the IMD said, as it warned of possible landslides in the hilly areas and flash floods in low-lying areas of the region.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that water levels may rise in some rivers in the region, including Teesta, Torsa, Jaldhaka and Raidak, as incessant rain continued to batter the north Bengal districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar since Saturday.
