I'm Bummed About Wonder Man's Cancellation, But At Least I Get Why It Happened Now

Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) looks ahead amid an interview on Wonder Man.

Wonder Man fans were met with some unfortunate news weeks ago when it was confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe-set show had been canceled. The development was particularly painful, considering Disney+ had already renewed the buddy comedy. Since the Emmy-nominated series joined the list of shows canceled in 2026, further behind-the-scenes details on its demise have been revealed. Now, a new report includes alleged details on why it was axed and, while I’m disappointed, I get why it happened.

All 8 episodes of Wonder Man became streamable with a Disney+ subscription in late January 2026, and it was in March that the renewal news came down. From the outside looking in, the House of Mouse seemed quite bullish about the Hollywood-centric show. Sources recently claimed to The Ankler that the cancellation decision wasn’t made lightly. Apparently, Disney didn’t think the show scored high enough viewership numbers to justify the production costs.
