PHUKET - "I aim to do my best in this round, even better than the two previous rounds, with a special surprise prepared," said young Thai rocker Nene Royal as she left to compete in the Live Shows round of America's Got Talent (AGT) on Wednesday.
Nene, her father, mother and younger brother arrived at Phuket International Airport in their home province in the morning to board a flight to Suvarnabhumi, where they would continue to the United States.
Speaking to local reporters, the 16-year-old, whose real name is Rattikarn "Praew" Amloy, said she was very ready for the next stage of the competition after having rehearsed intensely over the past several days.
She promised to do even better than in her previous two showings and asked for support from her fans. "I have prepared a special surprise for the fans. And especially for the Thai people in America, please vote for me."
The AGT Live Shows round, where contestants perform in front of judges and a live audience, started on Tuesday and will run until Sept 8. For the final round of the Quarterfinals, voting will be immediate and results instantaneous.
Nene Royal's performance is scheduled on Aug 25.
Her father, Narong Amloy, added that the family had provided their full support to Nene throughout the journey. They learned from their experiences together, including mistakes in previous rounds, and would make the next round perfect, the father said.
Nene proved her potential to global audiences by performing The Cranberries' Zombie in the audition round and Muse's Hysteria in the Judges' Callbacks for the NBC talent show. Her fans are looking forward to seeing what song she has chosen for the quaterfinal.
AGT 2026's Semifinals and Finale will be concluded on Sept 23.
