Illinois’ plummeting COVID-19 numbers show state ‘exiting the Omicron surge’

SPRINGFIELD — Illinoisans are being infected, hospitalized and dying from COVID-19 at levels not seen since last autumn.

Just eight deaths were reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health on Monday, the state’s lowest daily death toll since late November.
