Thousands of illegal vapes worth around £22,000 were seized from shops.
A number of stings were carried out at eight shops in the city, during which Merseyside Police, Liverpool City Council’s Alcohol and Tobacco Unit and Public Health Liverpool seized 1,800 illegal vapes worth thousands of pounds.
Liverpool Council said the seizures are part of a crackdown on the sale of counterfeit vaping products. Vapes are a form of e-cigarette and must follow the requirements of the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016.

The UK legal limit on nicotine in disposable e-cigarettes is no more than 2% (20mg/ml) and must not exceed 2ml in capacity - around 600 'puffs'. Additionally, these products can only be sold to people aged 18 and above.
Merseyside Police said 290 illegal vapes were seized from a city centre shop on Thursday, which were worth over £3,000. The confiscated vapes were voluntarily surrendered by the store owner and will be disposed of, police said.
Enforcement action is ongoing by Liverpool City Council Public Protection Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on the social media desk via Twitter Merseyside Police Contact Centre or Facebook 'Merseyside Police CC'.
