Two illegal immigrants from Venezuela, Gregory Marlyn Galindez-Trias and Moises Alejandro Condollo-Urbaneja, were arrested in New York in connection with the murder and robbery of a 59-year-old man at a Connecticut hotel. The victim, Angel Samaniego, was shot to death at a Super 8 Hotel in Stamford, Connecticut.
Galindez-Trias, a 24-year-old woman, and Condollo-Urbaneja, a 22-year-old man, were apprehended at a New York train station with two young children, ages 1 and 3. They face charges of possession of stolen property, grand larceny, and fleeing justice. Murder charges have not been filed yet.
Authorities in Rensselaer arrested the suspects after they used the victim's credit card at an Amtrak station. Both individuals are believed to be affiliated with the Tren de Aragua prison gang, a transnational criminal organization from Venezuela. They are in the U.S. illegally and have been issued detainer requests by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Galindez-Trias entered the U.S. near Fort Brown, Texas, via catch-and-release in 2022, before the birth of the younger child. Condollo-Urbaneja's entry into the country is unknown, but he is confirmed to be associated with Tren de Aragua.
The victim, Angel Samaniego, was a legal immigrant and green card holder from Ecuador. The children found with the suspects have been placed in Rensselaer County Child Protective Services custody. One child is a U.S. citizen, while the other is from Venezuela.
Police recovered Samaniego's stolen belongings and his car from the suspects. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Stamford police.
