Tottenham’s pre-season friendly with Sevilla on Saturday afternoon turned nasty as Son Heung-min and Richarlison were both caught up in physical altercations.
Antonio Conte’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by their Spanish opponents in Suwon, South Korea, with Harry Kane opening the scoring in the second half before Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic levelled the tie 14 minutes later.
While the game was only a pre-season friendly, a number of unsavoury moments took place during the encounter that was anything but in keeping with its intended nature. At one point Son inadvertently bloodied one of his opponents, while club-record signing Richarlison was also involved in an altercation.
Towards the end of the first half, South Korean Son accidentally caught Sevilla’s Gonzalo Montiel with his elbow, leaving the Argentine right-back bloodied. The incident came following a series of strong tackles by Sevilla’s players on the Spurs’ squad, including Montiel, who had gone in with a strong challenge on Ryan Sessegnon prior to the incident.
Montiel was on the receiving end of the elbow as he attempted to stop Son breaking forward on a counter attack, and the incident spilled over at the half-time whistle, with the Argentine defender confronting last season’s joint-Premier League golden boot winner.
When the incident happened, Spurs duo Christian Romero and Richarlison both got involved as they attempted to cool the situation, although Tottenham ’s Brazilian forward got heated himself during the game.

A video clip of Richarlison, who joined Spurs for a club record fee of £60million from Everton, showed him clashing with Sevilla’s Alejandro Gomez during the half-time fracas that occurred off the back of Son’s elbow on Montiel.
Pictures show Gomez appearing to strike Richarlison as the Brazilian squared up to his opponent, defending his teammates in the ordeal. Romero held back the summer signing and sides eventually went their separate ways down the tunnel.
For Spurs, it was their second pre-season friendly of the summer after recording a 6-3 win over Team K League earlier this week in South Korea, with the draw in Sevilla marking an end to their time in Asia.
Tottenham are next in action on Saturday, facing Rangers at Ibrox before concluding their pre-season schedule with a meeting against Italian side Roma in Israel a week later.
Summer signings Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster, who joined Spurs from Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton respectively, are yet to make their debuts for the club after testing positive for coronavirus while in South Korea.
