Ilkay Gundogan explains what sparked Man City's incredible comeback vs Aston Villa

Ilkay Gundogan admits the odds were against Manchester City when they fell 2-0 behind to Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League season, but says his side always believed they could come back and win the Premier League title.

City just needed to win against Villa to seal the title, but were heading for second place when they slipped to a 2-0 deficit in the second half. Liverpool were still drawing against Wolves, although went on to win, so City needed to come back to secure the title.

Substitute Gundogan got the ball rolling with a fine header, before Rodri's well-placed shot levelled things and Gundogan's tap-in six minutes after his first sent the Etihad wild and secured the title for City.

Speaking at full time, Gundogan said the first goal for City was crucial, and outlined how the Blues always believed they would get chances to come back.

"After going 2-0 down, the chances were just very small," he told Sky Sports.

"We have to do the simple things again in the best way. Scoring two goals, and having 10 mins to score a third gave us a boost.

"It was a positive [feeling], especially after being 2-0 down. It was about getting that goal and we knew the momentum was on that side. We knew we had to score three in a couple of minutes and we did. We're all fans, and these are the days you look back to, and it's an unbelievable night.

"Fourth [title] in five years, it's a huge moment, incredible achievement, we have to do it that way. It's about the togetherness within the team, the fans in the stadium. That's what we appreciate the most."
