IKEA has announced that it will be collaborating with Tesco to provide customers with more convenient, accessible and affordable collection services.
In a first for the UK, the new Collect Near You service offers customers the option of collecting an IKEA order from a designated area within their local Tesco car park. The service will be launched in Blackburn on October 10 before coming to six other pilot sites including the Tesco Liverpool Old Swan Superstore later in the year.
When placing an order, customers will go through the usual checkout option before selecting the Collect Near You service for their local Tesco. Shoppers will then arrive at their chosen date and time and follow IKEA click and collect signage within the Tesco car park before meeting with a delivery driver, who will hand their order over to them.

The concept is currently used in Denmark and Portugal. IKEA and Tesco will run the pilot for an initial trial period of six months in the UK. Orders over £200 will be free to collect, with all other orders costing £10.
Julie Carr, fulfilment and multichannel network manager for IKEA UK and Ireland, said: "We are proud to be collaborating with Tesco to test and trial more convenient, accessible and affordable collection services in the UK across a number of key locations. This collaboration recognises that in an ever-changing retail environment, there is an opportunity to work together to bring IKEA closer to many people."
