Punk manager Danny Fields revealed he has to remind Iggy Pop about his own past.
The manager and publicist, 83, signed and managed Iggy and the Stooges, signed the MC5 and managed the Ramones.
He also worked with Jim Morrison and The Velvet Underground.
During an appearance at the Chelsea Hotel for his late pal Edie Sedgwick's artwork, he revealed he spends a lot of time 'setting the record straight'.
"It’s like, ‘Iggy, come here, I have to talk to you. That story you’ve telling when people ask you how you met David Bowie — Iggy, that’s not what happened'," Danny said.
He added of his conversation with Iggy: "'Listen, what happened was that you were staying at my house. You’re telling it wrong.'
"[Iggy would say], 'OK, so what happened? You know why I tell it? I don’t remember a f***ing thing.'"
The manager added to Page Six that Iggy usually agrees with his recollection of events and stories.
Danny was the one who recommended to Elektra, the record label he was hired by, that they sign the MC5 as well as The Stooges.
Iggy met David Bowie in 1971, a time where "we were all pretty bad but he was at least viable."
David helped Iggy rebound from the band's breakup by producing both of his acclaimed 1977 solo albums. He also convinced him to reunite with the Stooges.
The band debuted in 1967 at their communal State Street house on Halloween night, with their next live gig being in January 1968.
During the beginning stages of their career, they were originally known as Psychedelic Stooges at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit.
They performed with MC5 and others.
Their first major show was in mid-1968 at the Grande Ballroom when they were opening for Blood, Sweat & Tears.
Iggy and the band quickly gained a wild reputation for their insane performances.

Iggy was known for his onstage behaviour which included smearing his chest with meat and peanut butter, cutting himself with shards of glass, and flashing his genitalia to the crowd.
1968 saw the band scouted by his old pal Danny, who signed both The Stooges and MC5.
Meanwhile, in 2020, Iggy was given a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
He also recently announced the details of his album, Every Loser, which is set for release in 2023.
"The players are guys I’ve known since they were kids and the music will beat the s**t out of you. Have a great day," he said.
