Everyone is loving M&S at the moment, but for autumn fashion, there's another British clothing brand that's really giving them a run for their money.
Phase Eight is, of course, particularly well known for elegant occasionwear, but I was so surprised to find some of the chicest coats, knitwear and boots amongst the new-in section. Think burgundy shades, suede and leather jackets, plus a new season take on polka dots.
I know it's still only early August, but in the fashion world you have to stay one step ahead, so autumn collections are landing in stores as we speak. Besides, I'm quite excited to ditch the heatwave-proof dresses and switch to cosy knits and knee-high boots... anyone else?

Occasionwear

Is it ever too early to start thinking ahead to Christmas party season? The ruched detailing on this design makes it one of the most stylish dresses to hide a tummy, and it's really elevated by the gold metal detailing at the waist.

If you're looking for an autumnal twist on florals, this blue and green print will do the trick. It's machine washable, and the voluminous sleeves are super flattering.

If you've got an autumnal wedding in the diary, the best jumpsuits offer a very chic alternative to dresses. This brown polka dot print reminds me of Julia Roberts' dress in Pretty Woman, plus Phase Eight has brown satin shoes and a matching fascinator you can pair it with.

This is the perfect dress to see you through the transition from summer to autumn in style. Don't forget early September is often still really warm, so this dress will become an everyday go-to as well as an option for fancier occasions.

I honestly can't believe this is a high street dress. Don't you think it looks more designer? The linen blend fabric is still lightweight and breathable for a September wedding, plus the fit and flare silhouette will suit any shape.

I adore the jewel colour of this skirt, which will move beautifully when you walk. It's a new arrival on the Phase Eight site, and I imagine it will sell quickly.
Knitwear

The tie detail on the back of this knit means it will work just as well with a pair of barrel-leg jeans as it will with a pretty midi skirt for party season.

An instant classic, the neutral colour of this jumper will work well with everything you've already got in your autumn capsule wardrobe. It's the upgrade to your knitwear that will last for years.

Knitted dresses and knee boots are an easy everyday formula for autumn/winter, and this striking colour block dress will win you lots of compliments. It's available in regular or petite lengths, so there's something to suit everyone.
Jackets & coats

I never would have thought to check Phase Eight for a suede jacket, but I think this might be one of the best I've seen so far this season. The collarless cut and wide sleeves are really unique, and the buttons add to the retro feel.

Savvy shoppers are already buying winter coats, and I think this one might just be the perfect shade of camel. I would have believed it was Max Mara or similar, it's that good.

You can't go too far wrong with a butter soft leather jacket in the autumn months, and this is going to look amazing paired with your favourite blue jeans and a pumpkin spice latte.
Tops, trousers & skirts

Polka dots were a huge summer trend, but the good news is we're carrying spots into autumn. This light blue and brown colourway is stunning, and makes a refreshing change from traditional black and white. The pussybow is very Princess of Wales-coded, too.

If you only buy one piece for the new season, make it something burgundy. It's a colour that just screams autumn, and I love the shape of these wide leg trousers.

This ombre printed skirt is making me crave chilly but sunny days. It looks very sophisticated on the model paired with knee-high leather boots, but you could keep it casual with your best white trainers and a simple T-shirt instead.
Shoes & boots

A good pair of loafers is my top recommendation for early autumn. I think I wore mine every day last year. They're 100% leather and will be just as comfortable as the sandals you've worn all summer long.

A block heel ankle boots is an autumn hero with good reason. Pair these with tights and dresses of any length, and they'll even work with your tailoring.

Comfortable heels are hard to find, but these glitzy block heels will be hard to beat. They'd work really well with the Phase Eight Nixie floral print dress.
Bags

This woven bag is giving me Bottega Veneta vibes, but for a fraction of the price. it's 100% leather, and is the ideal size for all your essentials. It's a no-brainer!

Bags are a really easy way to easy your wardrobe into the new season, and this tan suede shoulder bag is spot on. The tassel trim is a fun addition, and so is the braided strap.

This bag can easily go for handy crossbody to a top handle mini bag to work with your occasionwear. That's two bags in one - for under £100!
Phase Eight offers an impressive size range, running from a size 6 up to 26 in selected items. There are often petite options, plus you can return items by post or to stores within 28 days of receipt (14 days for Phase Eight sale items), so shopping online couldn't be more straightforward.
