NEW DELHI: As Sri Lanka blew away defending champions England by eight wickets in Bengaluru on Thursday, skipper Kusal Mendis hoped his team would do well in the remainder of the league stage of the World Cup and sneak into the semifinals.

Sri Lanka secured an easy win against England after restricting Jos Buttler and his team to a modest total of 156 runs.
