Idaho voters will decide on Nov. 3 whether to adopt the Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act, known as Proposition 1. The citizen initiative would create a legal right to abortion before fetal viability and protect decisions about contraception, fertility treatment, miscarriage care, and prenatal and postpartum care. A simple majority is needed for it to pass, and it would take effect Jan. 1, 2027, according to the Idaho Voter Guide's Proposition 1 page.
For Idaho families, the vote touches everyday medical decisions, including how doctors handle a dangerous pregnancy, how patients get care after a miscarriage, and whether some people still travel out of state for care.
