'If love could cure me': Janey Godley shares touching clip of Glasgow welcome amid cancer battle

Janey Godley has taken to her social media to share a heartwarming video clip of her during her 'Not Dead yet' tour when she was performing in Glasgow earlier this month.

It comes following the news Janey bravely decided to go ahead with her UK tour which kicked off in February despite learning she was suffering from a terminal cancer battle with a long road ahead of her.

Amid undergoing gruelling chemotherapy sessions to battle her ovarian cancer, she wanted to go back on tour 'one last time' and organised a 27-date run - which has been a roaring success with all dates sold out.

She wrote on Twitter: "That moment when 3000 people welcome you onstage in Glasgow at SEC Armadillo - if love could cure me I’d be healed #ovariancancer."

The tweet was accompanied by a clip of the 62-year-old comedy star on Glasgow's SEC stage as she was visibly touched and overwhelmed by the cheering and support from her Scottish fans as she became tearful exclaiming "wow," as she was lost for words.

Janey Godley admitted she was feeling scared ahead of her latest hospital scan (Twitter/JaneyGodley)

One fan wrote: "Was an absolutely AMAZING night , I laughed out loud & cried my eyes out but the best thing was the electric vibe buzzing through the Armadillo, thank you Janey."
Another added: "I can feel the love too. You are so loved!," as they shared a series of hearts.

Janey revealed before the tour kicked off that it would be her last. She told Lorraine Kelly she was determined to go "out with a bang" and will keep fighting after confirming her cancer is "treatable but not curable".

Just last week, the Glasgow icon opened up to her 289k Twitter followers about how "difficult and tough" the walk down memory lane was, 40 years on from the death of her beloved mum, Annie, as she visited her childhood home.

Annie's body was found in the River Clyde during the 1980s and Janey has always claimed her mother's violent partner, Peter Greenshields, was to blame for her death.

Janey updated fans on Twitter on Monday last week, saying: "Today was difficult. I went back to my childhood home with a camera crew, back to the street where the man who killed my mum lived.

"Same time I got news my cancer marker number is low - memories were tough. Also facing terminal cancer and explaining this to people who meet me."

The star also visited the pub she used to run before finding fame as a comedian and spoke of the memories it brought back of daughter Ashley's childhood.

She added: "Then we went down to my old pub in the Calton. Up our old close and the memories flooding in of Ashley being a wee girl hanging off the Victorian newel post on the staircase.

"It’s still there - with the Wally tiles on the walls."

Fans flooded to praise Janey for her "brave and inspiring" move, with many speculating a new TV show could be looming.
