Idrissa Gueye is ‘in Merseyside’ to undergo a medical and finalise terms ahead of a return to Everton, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano .
The Senegalese international left Goodison Park in summer 2019, moving to Paris Saint-Germain for around £30million, but has recently fallen out of favour under new manager Christophe Gaultier.
Frank Lampard has long been known to be keen on midfield reinforcements and a deal for the 32-year-old has developed quickly as he became a priority target. And now the Toffees have agreed a deal with the French outfit, bringing Gueye to Merseyside today to finalise personal terms.

Last week the Daily Mail reported that Gueye will be offered a short-term contract at Goodison Park, with his midfield experience and dynamism a quick-fix for Lampard’s midfield worries. His current deal at PSG runs out in 2023, opening up the possibility of a cut-price deal on Everton’s side.
Gueye made 107 appearances for the Toffee’s between 2016 and 2019, scoring four goals and adding five assists. His performances earned him a move to the French giants in 2019 where he has played 111 times across all competitions.
Everton are reportedly keen to bring in two midfielders this summer to strengthen a previously vulnerable midfield. Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour has also been linked with a move to Goodison as Lampard looks to utilise his Blues connections.
The Toffees boss is also eyeing a striker as he looks to replace the goals that left with Richarlison.
