A dangerous driver taunted cops by doing ‘doughnuts’ around their patrol car during a chase in a Fife town.
The moron was spotted driving at high speeds and attempting to drift across the busy car park next to Central Park Stadium in Cowdenbeath on Monday night.
After lapping round the marked patrol vehicle, the driver made off across a grass embankment and onto a dark footpath - just yards away from several children.
The idiot driver had earlier fled the scene after police were originally called and was filmed tearing up the grass pitches at Beath High School.
One member of the public, who had to swerve to avoid the maniac, said: “This guy had absolutely no regard for the safety of numerous children who were in the area.
“He clearly took great pleasure driving towards and around alarmed members of the public who were either collecting their kids from the sports centre or walking their dogs.
“The police were absolutely powerless to stop him fleeing the scene because they could see how fast he was going down that pedestrian footpath. It was far too dangerous.
“How he never knocked down a child, I’ll never know. Then to top it all off, he tries to perform doughnuts and drift around the police car.
“His behaviour gives the car enthusiast community a terrible reputation and if anyone knows who he is, they should 100% tell the police.
“How would they feel if that was their child he almost knocked down? It was like a cat and mouse chase that went on for absolutely ages.
“The smell of burning rubber was absolutely unbelievable.”
The witness added: “The front licence plate of the car was missing and the back one was covered in mud.
“He was wearing a grey hooded top that he had pulled tightly around his face and was smoking something when he drove towards my car.
“There are plenty over other open areas where he could have gone if he wanted to destroy his motor but he chose to inflict his idiotic and dangerous behaviour on innocent members of the public.“
Police have since recovered the 4x4 motor and enquiries remain ongoing to trace the driver.
A force spokesperson said: “Police received a number of reports of a car being driven dangerously in the High Street area of Cowdenbeath in the evening of Monday, 21 February, 2022.
“Officers attended and the car was subsequently traced and uplifted. Enquiries are ongoing.”
