Iconic red phone box with own electricity supply on sale for £45k - but there's a catch

An ionic red phone box with own its electric supply is up for sale for £45,000 - with one big catch.

The red phone box, in Kensington, West London, is up for sale by Bid X1 and has been placed on the market at a guide price of £45,000.

The 1930s booth is even connected to an electricity supply, which means it could even be turned into a local business.

The ' property ' listing for the 8ft3in high and 3ft square box promotes it being used as a business or advertising space, reports My London.

However, the kiosk, which is located near Dukes Lane, is registered as a Listed Building at Historic England meaning that although you can resell at anytime, exterior alterations and removal of the box is not permitted.

On the Bid X1 advertisement for the telephone box, it explains: '"These historic listed 'K6' red phone box or 'Jubilee' kiosks, commemorating the Silver Jubilee of the coronation of King George V.

"They were originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, who also designed Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral, Battersea Power Station and Bankside Power Station now Tate Modern.

"Historic England have listed to preserve these iconic red kiosks, and many have transformed them to coffee shops, libraries, flower shops, museums, bakeries, and defibrillators."

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the UK, you can buy a house for near enough the same price. A two-bed house in Shropshire is set to go up for auction this month and is currently listed at £50,000 for the entire property.

In another example of spiralling property prices in London, a parking space in the city last month went on sale for the same price as 3-bed house in Wales.

The 100 square foot space in Belgravia is located in an underground car park and offers room for one car only - for an eye-watering price of £110,000.

In comparison, the price of a terraced home in the town of Port Talbot in South Wales comes to exactly the same - offering three bedrooms, two reception rooms, a kitchen, a garage and a garden.

The London parking spot on Ebury Street is located in the a prestigious part of West London, where properties can reach to £5.5million.

Coming in at a cost of £1,100 per square foot - the parking space is beneath an apartment block with a 24-hour concierge service.

However, as well as its potential buyer being happy to fork out the £110k asking price - they must also agree to pay a £600 service charge for the tiny patch of land.
