An iconic Dublin store has closed its doors this week after more than 20 years in business.
Miss Fantasia, located on South William Street, was an adult boutique well known for its wide variety of toys, leather and PVC clothing, lingerie and hosiery. The shop also manufactured its own leather and rubber products and offered a repair service, and it was in business in the capital for over 20 years.
On Tuesday, Miss Fantasia closed its doors for the final time, and signage has since been removed from their South William Street shop and the window which previously featured wig and leather wearing mannequins lays empty. Miss Fantasia has not yet revealed why it has closed down, but it is possible that rising costs associated with the cost of living crisis may have played a part.

Fans of the popular shop on South William Street immediately flocked to social media following news of the closure, with many reminiscing on their visits to the shop. One person commented: "Miss Fantasia’s on South William st has closed its doors! It was iconic and Justin ran a great spot! I got my Xtina (lol) chaps in there from my Spirit days, diamanté whips (cause you know!), amazing outfits - it was a right of passage for so many!"
A second said: "Ah sad news, great shop was literally a staple in the area all those years." A third added: "Jaysus it was open up until quite recently I’m sure! That’s a pity.”
A fourth person commented: “I just heard Miss Fantasia has closed down. I used to buy all my leather and PVC there to wear to the pub (as you do). A sad day for goths everywhere. #Dublin."
Meanwhile, the wave of wave of closures continues as energy and food costs soar across the capital with several Dublin restaurants, fast food outlets and more recently announcing their closures. A city centre cafe, a burger joint and a fusion restaurant are among local businesses in Dublin to announce they are shutting their doors.
