Jobs are at risk at Iceland's headquarters in Wales after staff we told they would need to move to South Africa to remain in post. Contact centre staff based at the company's headquarters in Deeside, Flintshire, were told that phone and email work is being outsourced to contact centre contractors Ascensos.
The work for Iceland will be carried out in South Africa. They said that Ascensos plan to make UK staff redundant due to this and have started a consultation with affected workers.
But in a message to staff - seen by North Wales Live - it does add that there would be a chance to relocate to South Africa and retain a job if staff wanted to. However it accepts it would be "very unlikely" that workers would want to take up this offer.

Iceland has not disclosed the exact numbers affected but said a "small number" of staff would be impacted.
An Iceland spokesperson said: “We can confirm that our contact centre operations will transfer to a third party, impacting a small number of our existing employees. This is a business led decision to support our ambitions to provide a high level of customer service as we continue to grow and evolve the Iceland offering.”
A worker, who asked to not be named, said: "For a company that prides themselves on looking after their people and call themselves a 'family' business this smacks of profit before people."
Wales's biggest firm employs around 25,000 staff in its store network around the UK. There are also several hundred at the HQ in North Wales.
Ascensos have been asked to comment.
