Supermarket giant Iceland has sparked demand for a change in the law after making an announcement to shoppers. The supermarket chain told shoppers about their decision earlier this week.
In the announcement, the retailer said it will be closing all normal Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores at 4pm this weekend, so that staff can watch the football.
Manchester Evening News shared the news on social media, and the response was overwhelming. While many praised Iceland for the decision, most people saw it as an opportunity to demand the law change to allow supermarkets to close on Sunday.

The Sunday Trading Act was passed into law in 1994. Before this, shops were unable to open on Sundays.
