Iceland recalls popular sweet treat due to two undeclared allergens of peanut and egg

People across the country have been urged to check their shopping after one of Iceland's popular products has had to be recalled.

The Mars Dessert Bar is being recalled after it could found to contain allergens which are not mentioned on the label. On the Food Standards Agency (FSA) website, the dessert is stated to potentially contain peanuts and eggs.

They explain: "Iceland Foods is recalling Mars Dessert Bar because it may contain peanuts and egg, which are not mentioned on the label.

"As a result of a packaging error, some packs have been incorrectly packed with Snickers Dessert Bar. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts and/or an allergy or intolerance to egg."

Iceland Foods have said that the company has issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

Their advice is that if you have bought the product and have an allergy to peanuts and/or an allergy or intolerance to egg, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
