Iceland supermarket has confirmed it is closing its store in Swansea city centre next month. The chain says it will be closing its St David's Place store on July 29, 2023.
The confirmation comes after locals took to social media having heard rumours the store was set to shut down. WalesOnline consequently approached the store for information and a spokesman confirmed the St David's Place store will indeed be closing permanently.
However while the Iceland store at St David's Place is closing it's understood sister store The Food Warehouse at Parc Tawe Retail Park will continue to operate as will the Iceland stores at Phoenix Retail Park in Llamsamlet, at Parc Cwmdu in Carmarthen Road, and in Morriston.

A spokesman for Iceland said: "I can confirm that the St David’s Place store is closing on July 29." Executive chairman of Iceland Foods Richard Walker added: "Across Iceland and The Food Warehouse we have a portfolio of over UK 1,000 stores and our retail estate has grown by nearly 200 stores over the last 10 years. We typically open more than 20 new stores each year, creating many new jobs and contributing to the growth of local economies. At the same time we continually review the retail experience offered to our customers and have always made a small number of store closures every year, as local shopping patterns change and shop leases expire."
