For fans of the Boston Celtics, some of our most beloved players in the history of the storied franchise also happen to be the most-hated players by fans of other clubs.
For renowned Los Angeles Lakers fan Ice Cube, the founder of the Big3 three-on-three basketball league, one player, in particular, got his goat during that Celtic’s days as a player.
“Danny Ainge,” shared the renowned hip-hop pioneer in a recent interview with Boston.com’s Khari Thompson. He just looked like a little brat. But he could shoot and he hustled.”
“I ended up meeting him and he’s a cool dude, but man in those series in the ’80s, he would get under my skin,” suggested Ice Cube. “Him and Cedric Maxwell.”

Maxwell, now a broadcaster for the team he won two titles with in the 1980s, also had that effect on opposing fans. But few former Boston players irritated the folks in the stands cheering for the other squad more than Ainge.
