US Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 49,571 people in July, the highest single‑month total recorded during President Donald Trump's second term and a 70 per cent jump since February, according to government data analysed by the Associated Press.
The spike follows a Minnesota enforcement operation that drew public outcry earlier in the year. The figure marks a sharp rise from the 29,241 arrests logged in February and a 15 per cent increase on June's 43,021 arrests.
