The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday unveiled a revamped format for the 2028 Men's T20 World Cup, introducing a new Super 10 stage and Eliminators round aimed at expanding opportunities for emerging teams while retaining the tournament as a 20-team competition.
The tournament, to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, will begin with five groups of four teams each, replacing the previous format of four groups of five used at the 2026 edition. The top two teams from each group will progress to the newly introduced Super 10 stage, where the 10 qualifiers will be split into two groups of five and play a round-robin league.
