Ibrahima Konate has admitted that he and the Liverpool squad 'did not expect' to have the start to the season they have had.
The Reds’ poor beginning to the campaign continued as they were beaten 3-2 by Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday. That defeat leaves Liverpool in 11th place in the table with just 10 points and two wins all term.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have not won a league fixture since the end of August, and are without victory in their last three domestic matches.

One positive that came from the loss in North London was Ibrahima Konate getting his first minutes of the season. The centre-back had suffered an injury in pre-season, and his cameo at the Emirates Stadium was his first outing out the campaign.
Reflecting on the defeat to Arsenal, Konate acknowledged that it was a 'very sad' situation. He also admitted the current predicament is not one he or the club expected.
“Of course I am very sad for the team because we didn’t start this game very well,” Konate told Liverpoolfc.com . “We tried to come back, 2-2, and after Arsenal scored one penalty.
“It’s very sad, but we have to keep the head held up and keep going to work every day, every day, every day. Sometimes it’s like that, but we don’t give up now and we have to work again, again and again.”
“Yes, of course it’s a lot,” Konate added, when asked about frustrations over the season so far. “I think the start of this season, it [has not gone] very well and we did not expect that.
“After I was not really with the team in the last months and I cannot really explain this situation, but now I am back and I will try to do everything to help the team.”
