IBF World Lightweight Champion Katie Taylor Has Given Up Her Championship.

It is required of Caroline Dubois to contest for the IBF lightweight world title, which Katie Taylor relinquished.

Even though Dubois(8-0, 5KOs) from England is only 22 years old, she has already won numerous notable bouts and climbed the ranks to be the top contender. Following a split decision 3:2 loss to Thailand’s Sudaporn Seesondee, Dubois made her breakthrough at Tokyo 2020 and almost missed out on a medal.

Taylor(23-1,6KOs) from Ireland won all four of the major 135-pound titles, emerging as the undisputed lightweight champion. She advanced to super-lightweight, where she won uncontested at 140 pounds last year after exacting revenge on Chantelle Cameron. Taylor, 37, has now renounced the IBF lightweight title after holding all the belts in both divisions simultaneously.

The IBF has ordered Dubois to face Rhiannon Dixon of Britain, who is ranked second. Till January 20, when the fight will go out to bids, the IBF has opened up a window for discussions. Dubois wants to win a professional world championship. It appears that she is on track to compete for her first major title later this year.

“I want all the belts. I can go even heavier. I don’t know how long I’m going to stay around and how big my body can grow. It really does depend. You see girls jump up and I’ll be able to jump up as well,” said Dubois in media reports. Her favorite boxers have done just that, and the upcoming star wants to emulate them.

“I’m a massive of fan of people like Manny Pacquiao, Canelo, Naoya Inoue recently, Terence Crawford. All these people they’re great. But what made them great is they didn’t just do it in one weight division, they moved up and did it at another,” she added.

“They dominated their weight and moved up and up and up and continued to dominate. I want to be able to do something like that as well. They’re breaking the boundaries and pushing what’s considered to be impossible,” she continued. I want to be someone like that. I want to do something that hasn’t been done before. I want to change the sport of female boxing and be that new face,” she continued.
