Ianis Hagi and the Rangers jersey fortune hope former Barcelona captain holds for Ibrox star

Romanian legend Gheorghe Popescu hopes the jerseys he has of Rangers star Ianis Hagi will soon take pride of place in a football museum in his homeland.

A new homage to football has been opened in Bucharest and the new site is set to be a site for all things within the Romanian side of the game. It is calling for personal donations and jerseys from players past and present to be donated, with the Rangers playmaker's family name holding high promince, with his dad Gheorghe one of the nation's finest products.

He hasn't managed to get on the Ibrox turf yet this season due to his ongoing recovery from a knee injury suffered last season, but Popescu hopes that one of his Ibrox jerseys are soon worth a fortune. The former Barcelona captain told AgerPres at the opening of Football Museum Bucharest: "I have many shirts of Ianis Hagi.

"I would be extremely happy if he reaches his father's level and his shirts end up being worth the same. Or my son's (Nicolas) shirt if he ends up representing something in Romanian football.

"Because we all want that from our children. I am extremely happy that finally football has its own home, a football museum where football lovers will be able to find important exhibits from both Romanian and international football.

"We have so much history. Unfortunately, the present still suffers. I hope that the future will match up the past, but we will have to wait and see. But there is history, a rich history, which we will display here."
