Ian Wright tells Arsenal to avoid enticing graphic amid Newcastle Premier League curse

Following only their second defeat of the season to PSV in the Europa League, Arsenal bounced back immediately and in some style with a dominating 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Gabriel Martinelli, Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard and surprise first-half substitute Reiss Nelson, who netted a brace, all found the back of the net in the victory.

Despite the positive result there was some concern emerging from the game around Bukayo Saka who went off injured for Nelson in the first half, but Mikel Arteta has played down the possibility of him missing this month's World Cup with the possibility of him even featuring in Sunday's London derby against Chelsea.

The result took Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League, after they were leapfrogged on Saturday by Manchester City after their 1-0 win over Leicester.

With ten wins from 12 games, the Gunners have placed themselves among some of the best teams the Premier League has ever seen with their tally of 31 points after 12 games pushing them into the top ten best league starts after 12 matches.

While Arsenal supporters will undoubtedly want to think beyond the moment, especially with the statistic that showed eight of the other teams in the table of best starters went on to win the league, with Kevin Keegan's 1995/96 Newcastle the only team to not do so, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has insisted that supporters in the short-term should just 'enjoy the ride'.

Speaking on the Premier League post-match show after the game, he said: "Top four was the goal and that is what Arsenal fans will be thinking about but we're going to enjoy the ride, people trying to take away the joy from the fact Arsenal are top. We're top man and it's a beautiful thing.

"But at the same time we're not getting carried away because we know there is a long part of the season to go. There's the World Cup break, so it's just nice at the moment, don't take the joy away from the people."

Arsenal are next in action on Thursday as they face Zurich in the Europa League where a win will see them qualify as group winners, the Gunners are then on the road in the Premier League that weekend, travelling the short distance to west London to face Chelsea.
