Ian Wright sends transfer advice to Harry Kane amid ongoing Manchester United interest

Former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright insists he would join Manchester United this summer if he was in Harry Kane's shoes.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker, who scored 32 goals in all competitions for the Londoners this season, is United manager Erik ten Hag's top striker target ahead of the summer transfer window. The Reds have pinpointed the addition of a striker as their main target ahead of next term and the England captain is currently at the top of their wish list.

The 29-year-old has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world over the last few years and he would almost certainly offer United the guarantee of goals. He is out of contract at Spurs in 12 months' time, meaning this summer could represent their last opportunity to sell him for a sizeable transfer fee, though United are currently operating under the assumption that the London club won't let him go.

Spurs are still without a permanent manager and have failed to qualify for next season's Champions League, meaning a move to United would offer Kane everything that his current club cannot. And for former Gunners ace Wright, Kane would be sensible to make the switch to Old Trafford, admitting that he could make all the difference next season.

"Manchester United got 17 points more this season than they did last season," said Wright, speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show. "With Harry Kane in that team, they are very close to something, very close to challenging.

"They will splash the cash to get the right player. If I was Harry Kane and I had to choose what to do this summer, I would probably choose Manchester United.

"They're in the Champions League and he would make a difference there. With Kane and a couple of other signings, United are ready to go."
