Ian Wright plays cruel trick on Jamie Carragher using Laura Woods' phone

Ian Wright played a cruel yet amusing trick on Jamie Carragher using Laura Woods' phone in a cheeky attempt to worry his fellow pundit.

The Arsenal legend was allowed to text anyone of his choosing using the broadcaster's phone after winning a football-themed quiz during the latest episode of KFC's Wingmen series. "Who's it going to be?" asked Wright after finding out Woods' forfeit.

The talkSPORT host - who recently hit the headlines for her brutal response to Gabby Agbonlahor's criticism of Arsenal's celebrations - replied: "A pundit? Carra, [Gary] Neville... do Carra."

Wright then messaged Carragher: "Carra, have you heard or seen anything about the article that's coming out?" To which Carragher replied, "About what!?" The YouTube video then ended, leaving viewers wondering if Carragher was put out of his misery.

KFC's Wingmen series has featured many famous faces from the world of football in recent weeks, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Adebayo Akinfenwa, Michail Antonio, Magdalena Eriksson, Pernille Harder, Jesse Lingard and Bruno Fernandes.

Wright and Woods also discussed England's defeat in the final of Euro 2020. Gareth Southgate's side lost to Italy in a penalty shootout, extending their long wait for silverware. England haven't won a major international trophy since the World Cup in 1966.

"One of the best summers in my life," said Woods. "Euro final. Did you go to the final?" To which Wright replied: "I was there, I was doing it [as a pundit]... since Gareth's took over, he's been amazing because he took his time. This isn't no easy job.

"He's built a team that I now believe we can go that next step. We fell short simply because against Italy... but in respect of our elevation - and the respect we now should have around the world, which I think we've earned - we're in a great place."

On why England have improved, Wright said: "I think it's Gareth and the players are ready. The one thing you hear about these guys more [than] anything else is how much they enjoy being together. And you see it when we see the pictures coming out of the camp."

Later in the video, Woods admitted Jose Mourinho is the toughest manager to interview. Woods is best known for presenting talkSPORT's breakfast show but holds other presenting roles. She is part of Sky Sports' Premier League coverage.

At the time of the interview, Mourinho was in the middle of his difficult 15-month spell at Tottenham. The Portuguese coach failed to win silverware - reaching the EFL Cup final - or achieve Champions League qualification before his dismissal in April 2021.

"Harry Kane had just a scored a goal that was ruled out or something like that," recalled Woods. "Wrighty, he was looking into my soul! He was looking into my soul and he didn't like what he saw. That's how I felt.

"Anyway, I started the interview, asking him questions and he immediately flipped it back on me and went, 'Well, what did you think?' And I was like, 'Right, I have to put my big-girl pants on here'. And I was like, 'It's not about me, it's about you. No one cares about my opinion'. [Mourinho replied] 'Well I care, what did you think?' And I agreed with him but I just thought I had to hold my own."
