Arsenal suffered a crushing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City in their top-of-the-table Premier League clash on Wednesday night.
City took the lead in the first half after a calamitous mistake from right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu allowed Kevin de Bruyne a guilt-edge chance to break the deadlock before the Belgian finished exquisitely past the onrushing Aaron Ramsdale. But the Gunners fought back and equalised before half-time through Hale End academy graduate Bukayo Saka, who converted his penalty after Eddie Nketiah was brought down in the box by Ederson.
However, the reigning champions showed their class after the break as Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland both found the back of the net to give Pep Guardiola's side all three points, with the north Londoners relinquishing first place in the league for the first time in nearly six months.

Arsenal icon Ian Wright has had his say on the match at the Emirates Stadium, criticising centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes for his part in a 'naive' display from the Gunners. "We were very fortunate that he didn’t give away a penalty because he (Haaland) was offside but for me the pass (for Grealish's goal) is into nowhere," Wright told Premier League Productions when discussing Gabriel's performance.
"City are setting traps for him there and as soon as they win the ball, bang, they get the ball back and Haaland’s awareness for a striker was very good because he could have easily had a shot but he’s made sure that he passed it on so that they definitely get the goal and go in front.
"For me it came down to a bit of naivety and inexperience but they are the youngest team in the league and you’re going to get those type of mistakes. For me Gabriel doesn’t know where it’s going. That’s going to be a problem and it was."
Arsenal will hope to bounce back on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa, who are now managed by former Gunners boss Unai Emery.
