The Denver Broncos haven’t made any splash signings in NFL free agency yet, but that might be changing soon.
Dallas Cowboys right tackle La’el Collins technically isn’t a free agent yet, but if the Dallas Cowboys aren’t able to find a trade partner for him, the 28-year-old tackle could be released in the coming days.
Speaking with KOA Radio’s Ryan Edwards on Monday evening, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said that he expects Collins to be released — and he thinks Denver will be “in the mix” to sign the tackle.
Per @RapSheet just now on @KOAColorado, he believes that OT La'El Collins will be released by the #Cowboys and expects the #Broncos to be in the mix for him. #NFLFreeAgency

Collins would become arguably the best right tackles available if he’s released by Dallas. The Broncos might consider trading a late-round pick to the Cowboys to avoid a potential bidding war, as Collins’ current contract has him set to have a base salary of $10 million in each of the next three seasons.
Collins was suspended five games last season after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He was penalized eight times and allowed one sack in 12 games in 2021 (10 starts). Before that, he was penalized three times and allowed 3.5 sacks in 15 starts in 2019 (he missed 2020 with an injury).
