Use of ketamine among young people has seen an alarming rise in recent months, according to police.
The drug, which is a class B controlled substance, is used primarily as a form of anaesthesia, particularly on animals. However, "ket" has long since been used recreationally- inducing dissociative, trance-like sensations when taken.
The impact of long term ketamine use has not been as widely explored and reported on as much as other drugs- such as cocaine. However, recently, in response to incidents in the region, both Merseyside Police and medical bodies are trying to tackle the rising issue of ketamine use.
