Eddie Howe has hinted that Newcastle United may go back into the market in Portugal after scouting former Benfica star Darwin Nunez before his £85million switch to Liverpool this summer.
The Magpies have spent the week in Lisbon and have been closely analysed by the Portuguese media with Howe quizzed on his thoughts about the standard of The Primeira Liga after facing Benfica in pre-season. Howe coped well with questions and avoided the same level of scrutiny as Alan Pardew in 2013 when he stated that Benfica would not finish higher than eighth if they played in the Premier League.
Howe said: "I think it is a very strong and good league. Technically you could see from Benfica's style of play and the high technical style of their players in the Premier League.
