I would love to see this player back at Rangers next season - and here is why

Could Mikey Moore return to Rangers? (Image: Stuart Wallace/Shutterstock)

Alan Hutton reckons Mikey Moore will go on to play at a very high level, but urged the young winger to return to Rangers for the season ahead.

The Tottenham Hotspur youngster caught the attention at Ibrox on loan last season, his seven goals and four assists a decent return for a teenager but also not telling the full story of his performance level.

Spurs underperformed last season, only just staying the Premier League, and have a new manager in Roberto de Zerbi which provides a clean slate for fringe men like Moore.

Hutton, who played for both clubs, could see the 18-year-old getting a chance at in North London next season, but thinks he may benefit from more game time by returning to Ibrox.

Speaking to Betarades, Hutton said: “Personally, I would love to see Mikey Moore back at Rangers. When he first came to the club, the expectations were through the roof. We still haven't seen the best from him, because he is still young.

“He has been a standout player for Rangers and the talent is definitely there. I think he is capable of playing on an even higher level and this is a big summer for him. Tottenham already have some good players, but he has the talent to do it as well.

“The only question is if he is ready now, week in week out. I am not 100 per cent sure about that. If he went back to play for Tottenham, he might play 20 games which would be decent, but I don't know if he wants to do that.

“He is still young enough to go out on loan spells to get more experience. That could be at Rangers or another club, but in the future he will be playing at a very high level.”

Youssef Chermiti is another player Hutton would like to see having another season in Glasgow.

The former Ibrox recognises there may be a chance to make money on the striker, though.

“Chermiti is still so young and Rangers paid a lot of money for him," he added. "There were huge expectations on his shoulders and it took him a bit of time to settle in. A lot of fans enjoyed his performances against the big teams.

“I would like to see him at Rangers for one more year. Now, he is used to the league and I think he would be able to perform even more consistently.”

“Ultimately, money talks. If a big club comes in, money talks. If they get a big offer, they would have to take it.”
