Seanchoíche is an Irish word that translates directly to 'storytelling' and 'night', and when Ciaran Gaffney (also known as Gaff) set up Seanchoíche in October 2021 he had no idea it would snowball into the business that it is today.
The idea is very simple: there is a different theme for every night, on this particular night it was love, there are around 12 people with different stories about the theme and everyone else just comes to listen. As I entered Fumbally Cafe on Jan 27, the place was already full of eager people waiting with their glasses of wine or cans of beer.
Gaff told Dublin Live: "I think it so important to tell a story because it kind of helps you process something. It helps you unpack your demons, piece the puzzles together and It can be extremely cathartic, and also evokes a lot of empathy from those who listen."
