During Saturday’s 2-1 win over Burnley, a capacity crowd rose as one to welcome Newcastle United’s new number nine and £55 million signing. It was a deafening roar, amplifying the relief of finally seeing him don the club’s famous number nine shirt.

A knee injury picked up on international duty forced him into recovery for four months, but better late than never.
