Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has admitted that he was "surprised" when Casemiro joined Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag spent big during his first transfer window at United, with the signing of Casemiro costing an initial £60million that could rise to £70m in the future. The Brazilian was one of six new arrivals at Old Trafford, as Antony, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Martin Dubravka all joined ahead of the September 1 deadline for a combined £225m.
Casemiro was made to wait for his chance in United's starting XI, as he was slowly introduced to first-team action by Ten Hag. Since his first Premier League start against Everton last month, when he was awarded Man of the Match for his midfield display, the former Madrid man hasn't looked back.

United are unbeaten in the league when Casemiro has started. One of his former midfielder partners, Kroos, has now admitted that he was shocked to hear that Casemiro was leaving the club.
He told the Universo Valdano on Spanish TV (via the Mirror ): “I was surprised that Casemiro left. It is true that there were rumours but there are always rumours and often nothing happens. But when he told me he was leaving, I was sad, I started to remember all the years I spent with him and all we achieved together."
