'I was ready for it' - Weston McKennie reveals 'quick' Jesse Marsch Leeds United exit feelings

Leeds United midfielder Weston McKennie has said that he was unaffected by Jesse Marsch's sacking so early into his loan spell with the Whites, claiming he was 'ready' for the change.

The American would only serve under his compatriot manager for seven days before Marsch was shown the door by the club's higher-ups following a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest last weekend.

However, the 24-year-old wasn't particularly phased by what had happened, and hailed the coaching staff trio of Michael Skubala, Paco Gallardo and Chris Armas for coming in and helping the team focus on their match against Manchester United.

"I don't think it was that tricky, really," McKennie told Stadium Astro after the match. "I think every player has gone through some type of stage where the manager has changed and you have to quickly adapt.

"Obviously we'll miss him but at the same time, we're focused on the job that needs to be done which is get points. The new staff that came in at such short notice, they knew the job as well. We came here, took a point away from Manchester United and looking forward to having them at Elland Road and taking all three points there."

McKennie then highlighted his past as a reason for why he hadn't taken the news as hard as other players had but did claim it was a change that had happened very fast.

"I think for me, it was probably the quickest manager change that I've had, but as a football player, moving away from home at an early age, it's something that's not new. I was ready for it, and I know my game, how I can play under any manager and hopefully moving forward we'll find someone who fits us well."
