When Vikki Ridler turned 27 years old, she was juggling two young children, had just started a new relationship and was working full-time in a job she loved. Her life was falling into place and she felt happy, but then everything came crashing down after a regular smear test showed signs of cervical cancer.
Vikki had been having screenings every six months after receiving abnormal results following the birth of her son. In August 2017, she was two months late booking her smear test but didn't think anything of it. She told the Mirror : "I spotted bleeding that prompted me to go to the doctors. My previous smear had been fine so I never predicted what would happen next."
